C YA is a copper and concrete mirror modeled on the roadside convex mirrors familiar throughout Japan. Through their distorted reflections, these mirrors offer a glimpse of what we are about to encounter. They connect everyday movement with the possibility of life or death, becoming monuments to our collective trust in the act of looking.

While making the work, we imagined encountering such a mirror after the end of civilization. If it no longer reflects the roads, cars, and people we once knew, what kind of landscape would appear in it instead?
